Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV) reported third-quarter net income of $329 million or $0.48 per share, compared to $259 million or $0.37 per share, last year. Net income, non-GAAP, was $382 million or $0.55 per share, for the quarter.
On average, 18 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.53 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total operating revenues increased to $4.80 billion from $4.55 billion, a year ago. Analysts expected revenue of $4.79 billion for the quarter.
