A measure of the current economic situation in the euro area declined for the fourth consecutive month in October, a survey by the Bank of Italy and the Centre for Economic Policy Research showed Friday.

The eurocoin indicator fell to 0.08 in October from 0.13 in the prior month. This was the lowest reading since September 2013.

The fall in the indicator was due to the further weakening of industrial activity and the decline in share prices.

The indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area.
