Drone maker Parrot has announced that its Bebop Drone quadcopter will retail for $500 beginning in December. The Bebop can shoot full 1080p HD video (30 frames per second) in a 180-degree field of view, and is capable of streaming directly to phone or tablet.

Video is recorded to the Bebop's 8 GB of internal storage in MP4 format. Photos are captured in JPEG or Adobe DNG.

Control comes via the Freeflight 3.0 app (for Android, iOS and Windows Phone), or the Skycontroller bundle, which retails for $899. The Skycontroller uses RC-like controls to man the Bebop, while connecting to smartphone or tablet. It also acts as a Wi-fi amplifier to add stability.

The device is equipped with a bevy of sensors - accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ultrasound, and vertical camera - to keep it steady and aloft.
