French industrial production declined unexpectedly in October, official data showed Wednesday.
Industrial production declined 0.8 percent from September when output remained flat, the statistical office Insee said. Production was forecast to grow 0.2 percent.
Manufacturing output decreased 0.2 percent following September's 0.3 percent increase. It was forecast to remain flat in October.
Manufacture of transport equipment gained 0.3 percent month-on-month, while electrical and electronic equipment output slid 0.8 percent. At the same time, manufacture of refined petroleum products advanced 0.9 percent.
Data showed that construction output advanced 0.3 percent in October versus 1.8 percent fall in September.
