Spain Jobless Claims Fall Most Since 1998

Spain's jobless claims declined in 2014 at the fastest pace since 1998, the labor ministry said Monday.

The registered unemployment fell sharply by 253,627 or 5.39 percent in 2014. This was the largest decrease since 1998.

In December, jobless claims dropped 64,405, which was the second biggest fall in December. The overall unemployment totaled 4.45 million.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, registered unemployment fell by 5,404 in December. This was the fifth consecutive decrease.
