Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) Tuesday announced a collaboration with CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, to accelerate innovation in Next Generation computing.
CERN that operates the world's largest scientific facility is looking forward to a significant increase in data processing rates over the next decade, produced by the experiments on the Large Hadron Collider or LHC. As part of the CERN openlab initiative, CERN and Cisco will assign a team of experts for developing develop cutting-edge, highly secure computing infrastructure technologies, capable to deal with large and ever increasing amounts of data.
The combined efforts will create novel concepts for the latest evolution of hardware, heterogeneous system designs and increasing functionality of the network interface hardware.
