On a quarterly basis, consumer prices added 0.4 percent versus expectations for a gain of 0.5 percent following the 0.3 percent contraction in the first quarter.

Petrol prices rose 8.8 percent on quarter, making the largest upward contribution.

Prices for vegetables (up 4.8 percent), newly built houses excluding land (up 1.5 percent), and rentals for housing (up 0.6 percent) also rose.
