Damon Albarn has confirmed plans to work on a new Gorillaz album in September.
Now that Blur have released their long awaited comeback album, The Magic Whip, Albarn said that its time to turn his attention back to his collaboration between Albarn and animator Jamie Hewlett.
"I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record," Albarn has told Australian television program ABC 7.30. "I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance. I'd love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."
Earlier this year Hewlett hinted at the news in an Instagram post that featured new drawings of fictional band members Murdoc and Noodle. Hewlett wrote, "Yes Gorillaz Returns".
Gorillaz last released The Fall in 2011.
