Scott McCreery covered George Jones' "The Grand Tour" during his most recent performance at the Grand Ole Opry.
"The Grand Tour" is far from McCreery's only cover tune. During his first appearance at the Opry earlier this year, he closed his set with Conway Twitty's "Hello Darlin'."
He has also performed renditions of Alabama's "Mountain Music," Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" and Garth Brooks' "Papa Loved Mama."
McCreery will continue to look to the past when it comes to new music. The country star says that he will focus more on a "classic country" feel when it comes to his new album, which should be released sometime later this year. He is working on the new record in Nashville.
"I'm going to make a country music record," McCreery told Rolling Stone Country.
"That's what I had to try to convey to the label and they were all for it. The stuff I grew up with was that kind of music — I want to have some depth and portray a different side."
