Australia New Motor Vehicle Sales Dip 1.3% In July

The total number of new motor vehicle sales in Australia was down a seasonally adjusted 1.3 percent on month in July, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday - coming in at 96,388.

That follows he 3.8 percent jump in June.

By category, sales of passenger vehicles added 0.2 percent and sports utility vehicles gained 0.7 percent, while other vehicles advanced 0.4 percent.

By region, New South Wales recorded the largest percentage increase (1.1 percent), followed by both Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory (0.3 percent).

Over the same period, the Northern Territory had the largest decrease in sales (1.3 percent).

On a yearly basis, new motor vehicle sales gained 3.7 percent after rising 4.0 percent in the previous month.
