South Korea Consumer Confidence Rises In August

Consumer sentiment in South Korea picked up steam in August, the Bank of Korea said on Wednesday, as its consumer confidence index came in with a score of 102.0.

That's up from the upwardly revised 100.0 in July (originally 99.0).

Consumer sentiment as to current living standards was at 90, higher by one point than in July while that for their future outlook stood one point lower at 98.

Consumer sentiment regarding current domestic economic conditions was eight points higher than in July at 71, while that for their future outlook stood one point higher at 87.

Consumer sentiment as to prospective changes in household income remained unchanged at 100, while that concerning expected spending marked 106, higher by one point than in July.

The expectation for inflation over the following year was 2.5 percent.
