"Floating Spoon" On Mars, Explained

The images coming back from Mars are getting even more spectacular.

NASA's Curiosity Rover has spotted what might be the craziest rock formation in the solar system -- a sundae-spoon protrusion that almost defies belief.

The Mars spoon is likely an outcrop of mineral that is eroding slower than the surrounding land.

Planetary scientist Emily Lakdawalla tweets:


So, it is not a sculpture carved by the "woman on Mars" hinting we should bring her a Peanut Buster Parfait from Dairy Queen.
