Swiss Jobless Rate Remains Stable As Expected In August

Swiss unemployment rate held steady in August, in line with expectations, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs reported Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.3 percent in August, the same rate as in the prior month. The figure was also matched with consensus estimate.

Meanwhile, on an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate rose slightly to 3.2 percent in August from 3.1 percent in July.

The number of registered unemployed people climbed to 136,983 in August from 133,754 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 128,434.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, increased to 3.6 percent in August from 3.0 percent a month earlier.
