Thailand's exports declined more than expected in August, figures from the Commerce Ministry showed Monday.
Exports decreased 6.7 percent year-on-year in August, deeper than the 3.6 percent fall seen a month ago and 3.1 percent fall expected by economists.
Imports declined 4.8 percent from last year, but slower than the 12.7 percent decline posted in July. However, the pace of decline exceeded a 3.5 percent expected drop.
The trade surplus declined to $721 million from $770 million in July. It was forecast to rise to $965 million.
