South Korea Consumer Confidence At 5-Month High

South Korea's consumer confidence improved for the fourth straight month in October to the highest level in five months , the latest survey from the Bank of Korea showed on Tuesday.

The consumer confidence index rose to 105 in October from 103 in the previous month. In August, the reading was 102.

The latest reading was the highest since May this year, when it marked the same 105.0.

Consumer sentiment on current living standards was up by one point than in September at 92, and for their future outlook was also one points higher than in the previous month at 100.

The index measuring current domestic economic conditions rose notably by 8 points to 81 in October from 73 in the preceding month. Their future outlook improved to 91 from 88.

Consumer sentiment related to prospective changes in household income rose to 101 in October from 100 in September, and that on expected spending was one point higher than the previous month at 108.

The expectation for inflation over the following year was 2.5 percent. The survey was conducted among 2,200 households between October 13 and 20.
