Greece's consumer prices decreased at a faster-than-expected pace in November, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.

The consumer price index fell 0.7 percent year-over-year in November, exceeding economists' expectations for a 0.5 percent drop.

However, it was slower than the 0.9 percent decline in October. The index has been falling since March 2013.

Transport costs dipped 4.5 percent in November from a year ago and clothing and footwear prices slid by 2.7 percent. Meanwhile, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 3.2 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped at a faster pace of 0.8 percent in November, following a 0.1 percent slight fall in October. It was the second successive monthly decline.

The EU measure of inflation, or HICP edged down at a stable pace of 0.1 percent annually in November, in line with expectations.

Monthly, the harmonized index of consumer prices decreased 0.7 percent in November, after a 0.2 percent drop in the preceding month.
