The French economy is set to expand 0.4 percent in the first quarter, the Bank of France said Monday.
The economy had expanded only 0.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2015.
According to a monthly survey, the business confidence index rose marginally to 101 in January from 100 in December.
Industrial production and deliveries accelerated in January. Business leaders forecast activity to grow at a slightly lower pace in February.
The business confidence index in services remained unchanged at 96 in January. Activity increased significantly in January on a sharp rise in temporary work. Managers expect a less marked increase in activity in February.
At the same time, the business climate index in construction held steady at 96 in January. Business leaders expect activity to improve slightly in February.
