Greece's current account deficit decreased in February from a year ago, mainly due to an improvement in the primary and the secondary income accounts, preliminary figures from the Bank of Greece showed Wednesday.
The current account deficit narrowed to EUR 804.3 million in February from EUR 1.45 billion in the corresponding month last year.
The goods trade deficit widened to EUR 1.29 billion in February from EUR 1.2 billion in the same month of 2015. Meanwhile, the surplus on services trade shrank from EUR 381.9 million to EUR 156.3 million.
The primary income balance turned to a surplus of EUR 439.7 million in February from a deficit of EUR 140.4 million a year earlier. Similarly, the secondary income swung to a surplus of EUR 47.9 million from a shortfall of EUR 110 million.
The capital account surplus came in at EUR 243.8 million in February, up from EUR 108.7 million last year. At the same time, the financial account deficit fell to EUR 307.7 million from EUR 647 million.
