Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) Is Up Sharply After Q1 Profit Crushed Estimates

Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) reported first quarter EPS of $1.07 after the bell Thursday, compared to the loss of $0.12 in the prior year period. Analysts expected EPS of $0.58. The stock is now up 71.49 on 1.9 million shares.

Amazon.com gapped up sharply Thursday, but declined for much of the afternoon. The stock closed down by 4.57 at $602 on the highest volume in 2 1/2 months.
