The manufacturing sector in South Korea moved barely into expansion in May, the latest survey from Nikkei revealed on Wednesday with a Performance of Manufacturing Index score of 50.1.

That's up from 50.0 in April; last month's figure also represents the boom-or-bust line that separates expansion from contraction.

Among the individual components, there were marginal increases in both output and new orders, while input price inflation remains sharp.
