Eric Clapton caught a 28 pound salmon along Iceland's Vatnsdalsá River. It is the largest fish in the region caught this summer. The fish was measured at 180 centimeters.
Clapton had been fishing with his guide, Sturla Birginsson when he captured the massive salmon. Once hooked, the fish tried to escape and pulled Clapton and Birginsson a kilometer down the river. Clapton was unable to keep his prize catch, as the local fishing association of the region has a strict "catch and release" policy.
The guitar hero who rose to prominence in the early 1960s with the influential blues-rock band, The Yardbirds, has been putting out records for nearly fifty years. His latest album, I Still Do was released in May. A concert recording, Live in San Diego is scheduled for release on September 30.
