Greece's manufacturing activity deteriorated for the third consecutive month in November, as output and new orders fell at sharper rates, survey figures from IHS Markit showed Thursday.

The seasonally adjusted Purchasing Managers' Index, or PMI, fell to 48.3 in November from 48.6 in October. Any reading below 50 indicates contraction in the sector.

Output declined for the third month running in November. Moreover, the rate of fall was the fastest since July. New orders also contracted at a solid pace during the month.

Meanwhile, staffing levels in the sector edged closer to stagnation during November. The rate of job creation eased to the weakest in the current six-month trend of rising employment.

On the price front, input price inflation accelerated to a 16-month high in November, driven by increased prices of steel, thermoplastics and paper.

In contrast, manufacturers maintained their current price discounting policies for the fifth successive month.
