A Florida man landed in hot water earlier this month after allegedly attempting to impersonate the drummer from the band Nickelback. Howard Koenig, 45, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, was arrested by local authorities earlier this week after spending over $25k on musical equipment in the name of drummer Daniel Adair.
"Essentially, when he placed the order in Austria, I guess at this level of band … you have a lot of people that work for you," Detective Paul Griffith of the Port St. Lucie Police Department told the newspaper. "One of the people in his group thought it was out of the ordinary when they were getting contacted as to confirming the order."
Adair actually helped track down the identity thief by using the shipping address to which the musical gear was sent. He then reportedly did research on local drummers using similar equipment to that which was ordered and alerted local authorities.
