Hong Kong Q4 Industrial Production Declines

Hong Kong's industrial production declined further in the three months ended December, preliminary data published by the Census and Statistics Department showed Monday.

Industrial production fell 0.8 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter, faster than the 0.1 percent drop in the third quarter.

Production in the textile industry decreased the most by 4.6 percent over the year, followed by those of wearing apparel with a fall of 4.5 percent.

At the same time, the index of industrial production for sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased by 3.1 percent.

During the year 2016, overall industrial production contracted 0.4 percent compared with the previous year.

Data also revealed that industrial producer prices rose at a faster pace of 4.0 percent yearly in the fourth quarter, following a 3.9 percent increase in the third quarter.
