UNICEF Australia is now taping cryptocurrency mining to raise funds for the refugee children in Bangladesh. People can donate to the cause by allowing the use of their computer's processing power to mine cryptocurrency.

UNICEF is using an application by Coinhive, which mines Monero. This cryptocurrency mining service now uses a newly introduced opt-in feature that ensures mining will not be activated until the user specifically chooses to do so.

You can donate your computer's processing power on UNICEF's specially made webpage, The HopePage, which enables to select how much processing power between 20 to 80 percent you would want to give at the given time.

The Hopepage is an innovative website that allows you to easily donate some of your computer processing power to generate cryptocurrency while just keeping the webpage open on your computer after selecting the percentage of power you want to donate for this purpose.

The Hopepage says "Give hope, just by being here - This website uses some of your computer's processing power to automatically generate funds for UNICEF Australia."

Buy just keeping this page open your browser is mining cryptocurrency that is automatically donated to UNICEF Australia. It is then converted to fiat currency to fund life-saving supplies such as safe water, therapeutic food and vaccines, to Rohingya refugee children in Bangladesh.

When you're on the Hopepage, your web browser uses your computer's processor to solve cryptocurrency algorithms.

The longer you stay on the page and the more processor power you donate, the more algorithms get solved, which earns cryptocurrency.

Mining is the process by which computers on a network validate transactions and earn a fixed amount of cryptocurrencies as reward.

In what was UNICEF's first ever crypto-mining fundraising, UNICEF had in early February asked gamers to join an effort called "Game Chaingers," which aimed to raise funds by mining the cryptocurrency Ethereum.

It urged gamers and eSports fans around the world to help raise funds to support children in the war-torn Syria, using the Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies. Basically, anyone with a computer that has a graphic card could join the network.
