The official cause of the death of Dolores O'Riordan, the lead singer of Irish band The Cranberries, has been revealed.
Coroner Shirley Radcliffe ruled at Westminster Coroner's Court that O'Riordan died at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane in London by drowning due to alcohol intoxication.
She had no injuries or evidence of self harm, and had drunk an excessive amount of alcohol, the inquest report says. O'Riordan was found dead on January 15 in her hotel room, where she has been staying as part of a short recording session ahead of a music tour.
Police officer Natalie Smart, who attended the scene, told the inquest: "I saw Mrs O'Riordan submerged in the bath with her nose and mouth fully under the water," British media reported.
