Bruno Mars has denied reports that he will play the role of Prince in a new movie about the late rock star.

A representative for the pop star clarified that a news report published in the Daily Mirror over the weekend saying that Mars was "being lined up to play Prince" was "100 percent false."

The rep also refuted the British tabloid's report that a biopic on Prince is to air on Netflix.

Prince died at the age of 57 due to an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on April 21, 2016.

Bruno Mars had paid tribute to the "Purple Rain' singer by performing "Let's Go Crazy" at the Grammys last year.
