Country singer Willie Nelson will perform at an election campaign rally for Democratic Rep. Beto O'Rourke later this month.
O'Rourke is fighting Sen. Ted Cruz (R) for the Texas Senate seat in the November midterm elections.
The 85-year-old singer had invited O'Rourke on stage to play guitar together during his annual 4th of July Picnic near Austin earlier this summer.
The September 29 performance at Auditorium Shores in Austin it will be the first time Nelson has ever performed in public for a political candidate.
The music icon had played for President Jimmy Carter on the South Lawn in 1980.
"If we're going to win and elect Beto to the Senate, we need Texans to vote for him! And what's more Texan than Willie Nelson? (Nothing!)," O'Rourke's campaign website says.
Nelson's sons Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson will also take the stage along with Joe Ely, Carrie Rodriguez and Tameca Jones.
