Carrie Underwood's new album Cry Pretty debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, making her the first female country artist in history to score four Number One albums.

According to Billboard, Cry Pretty, which was released on September 14 via Capitol Nashville, notched 266,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 20. Of that, 251,000 were in traditional album sales.

Cry Pretty also debuted as the best-selling week for a female artist of any genre in 2018 and also was the best selling country album since Luke Bryan's Kill the Lights earned 345,000 in equivalent albums in August 2015.

Underwood's earlier albums Blown Away, Play On and Carnival Ride had all earned the No. 1 spot on Billboard Top 200 chart upon release.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units.
