Queen Latifah Turns Down Marian Anderson Award

The Marian Anderson award gala has revealed that the previously announced recipient of this year's award, Queen Latifah, will not be accepting it due to "personal reasons."

"The Marian Anderson Award will be rescheduling its 2018 Marian Anderson Award Gala originally scheduled for November 20, as Queen Latifah is unable to accept this year due to personal reasons," wrote the foundation in the announcement.

"We look forward to honoring her in the future. A new date and other details will be announced shortly. Single tickets for the November 20 Gala Concert will be honored on the new date," they added.

Slated to be held on November 20, the awards ceremony honours "critically acclaimed artists who have impacted society in a positive way." Past recipients include Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou and Quincy Jones, among others.
