Universal Studios have tapped widely acclaimed director Jean-Marc Vallee to direct the forthcoming drama biopic about the epic love story of Beatles legend John Lennon and artist Yoko Ono.
Scripted by Theory of Everything writer, Anthony McCarten, the as-yet-untitled film will be produced by Michael De Luca and Ono herself, alongside Vallee and his producing partner, Nathan Ross.
"We'll have to make a deal for the music, but with Yoko producing with us, we'll have access to the estate and the library of songs," said De Luca, speaking about the possibility of including Lennon's songs in the soundtrack of the film.
"The thing we loved about the script was its stark honesty," said Ross. "You see so many biopic scripts where you can see that the cooperation of the subject's family had something to do with the editorial, and that wasn't the case here."
