Bono Thanks Congress For Continued AIDS Funding

Bono has thanked the U.S. Congress for ignoring President Donald Trump's call to cut hundreds of millions from U.S. funding for AIDS programs.

The U2 frontman was quoted as saying that members of Congress "have so far turned down this president's request to cut AIDS funding — right and left in lockstep together on this."

Sotheby's is conducting an auction to raise money for the fight against HIV/AIDS on December 5 in Miami.

Bono says it is unfortunate that at a time "incredible leadership from around the world" is taking effort to eliminate the disease, "people are looking the other way, and it's just the wrong moment."

He warned that, "Women are the rising category (of infections) at the moment, and whilst the world is looking the other way in this rather childish fight among strongmen across the world, these budgets are being cut and women are paying the highest price."
