R&B superstar Jason Derulo will make his acting debut in Universal's upcoming film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats.
The multi-platinum singer-songwriter is cast along with Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Rebel Wilson, James Corden, Judi Dench and Taylor Swift, among others.
Derulo will play the rebellious and never satisfied feline Rum Tum Tugger.
Production of the all-star movie, directed by Tom Hooper, is set to begin in December.
A December 20, 2019 theatrical release is tentatively scheduled.
Steven Spielberg, Lloyd Webber and Angela Morrison are the executive producers.
The story was adapted from T.S. Elliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
