It was recently announced that the Augmented Reality experience of the "David Bowie Is" exhibit is currently under development.
Featuring videos, handwritten lyrics, costumes and original artwork, the new iOS and Android app will allow users to explore the "David Bowie Is" exhibition, which has travelled to museums all over the world since its launch in 2013. The app will also include 60 new additions to the piece, which is presently being housed at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City.
Designed by the New York-based studio, Planeta in conjunction with the David Bowie Archive and Sony Music Entertainment, the AR app is set for launch on Jan 8 2019, marking the 72nd birthday of the late singer.
"There's something fitting about presenting Bowie's life story as a vault full of artifacts, since he was an artist who always defined himself as a fan first and foremost," wrote Rob Sheffield in his review of the display for Rolling Stone magazine.
