Chubb Corp. (CB) reported second quarter operating income of $1.49 per share after the bell Thursday, up from the $1.40 per share reported last year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.31. The company also increased its full year 2009 operating income guidance to between $5.20 and $5.50 per share, from prior expectations of $4.80 to $5.20 per share. Chubb Corp. gapped open higher Friday and climbed during the first half hour of trade. Shares rose further around midday and finished up by $2.76 at $45.37. The stock set over a 6-month high and re-crossed its 200-day moving average.
