Family Dollar Stores Is Climbing Following Q3 Report

Family Dollar Stores (FDO) reported third quarter EPS of $0.62 Wednesday morning, up from the $0.46 reported during the prior year period. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.59. The company expects to report fourth quarter EPS between $0.39 and $0.43 and full year 2009 EPS of $2.03 to $2.07. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.39 and $2.00 respectively.

Family Dollar Stores gapped up sharply Wednesday and is now trading higher by 3.20 at $30.95 on above average volume. The stock has risen to a one-month high and has re-crossed its 50-day moving average.
