Adjusted net income for the quarter rose to $86.8 million or $0.82 per share from $80.4 million or $0.81 per share in the year-ago period. On average, 8 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.57 per share for the quarter.
Net sales for the quarter declined to $1.54 billion from $1.72 billion in the comparable period. Five analysts estimated revenues of $1.47 billion for the quarter.
