Plantronics Slips To Loss In Q2; Provides Q3 Guidance - Quick Facts

Plantronics Inc. (PLT) reported a second-quarter loss per share of $0.02 compared to earnings of $0.36 per share prior year. Non-GAAP earnings per share were $0.40 compared to $0.44 last year.

On average, 5 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit of $0.31 per share for the quater. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Net loss was $746 thousand compared to profit of $17.648 million last year. Non-GAAP net income decreased to $19.997 milllion from $21.560 million last year.

Net revenues were $167.4 million compared to $216.9 million a year ago. Analysts expected revenues of $155.12 million for the quarter.

The company announced its third-quarter guidance ranges for continuing operations, which excludes AEG due to the pending sale expected to be completed no later than December 1, 2009. The company currently expects net revenues in the range of $155 million-$160 million, non-GAAP earnings per share in the range of $0.38-$0.42 and GAAP earnings per share in the range of $0.33-$0.37.

Plantronics also announced that its Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.05 per share. The dividend is payable on December 10, 2009 to stockholders of record at the close of business on November 20, 2009.
