Thursday, Telephone and Data Systems Inc. (TDS) said its third-quarter net income attributable to TDS dipped to $35.6 million or $0.33 per share from $101.2 million or $0.87 per share in the prior year period. On average, 5 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.43 per share for the quarter.
Operating revenues for the quarter were $1.25 billion, down 4% from $1.30 billion in the comparable quarter one year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.25 billion for the quarter.
Looking ahead to the full year 2009, U.S. Cellular expects service revenue in the range of $3.90 billion - $3.95 billion and TDS Telecom expects full year operating revenue in the range of $775 million - 800 million. Analysts are looking for revenues of $4.98 billion.
