Centre is considering to allot second ultra mega power plant (UMPP) to Gujarat, media reports said. Tatas are already setting up a 4,000 MW UMPP in the state at Mundra in Kutch district.
Bharat Solanki, the Minister of state for Power, said the Gujarat Government has identified sites in Porbandar, Kutch, Morbi and Chhara in South Gujarat for the proposed project. He said the Centre sought more details on the locations identified by the state government.
The Minister said the state would get 1,900 MW power from the Tata's 4,000 MW project at Rs.2.26 per unit. The Tata plant is being set up at a cost of Rs.20,000 crore.
