Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) said it received a $100 million contract from Lockheed Martin (LMT) to produce solid rocket propulsion systems for all 3 stages of the U.S. Navy's Trident II (D-5) Fleet Ballistic Missile or FBM.
Under the annual contract terms, ATK stated that it will continue to supply Trident solid rocket propulsion systems to the Trident II (D-5) Missile System Prime Contractor, Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co., Sunnyvale through calendar year 2013. Also, the company added that Trident II (D-5) is the only U.S. submarine-launched strategic missile system in production today.
