Tuesday, L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. (LLL) said its MPRI division received a $162.7 million cost plus fixed fee follow-on contract to support the U.S. Army Central Command's Kuwait Observer-Controller Team program. Under this award, MPRI will be a subcontractor to Raytheon to provide training for U.S. and Coalition forces at the Udari Range in Kuwait. The initial contract period is for seven months, effective September 2009, and includes two option years that would extend it to April 2012.
The company noted that the program will enhance the skills and preparedness of the soldiers and contribute to their operational success. Currently, the MPRI team provides comprehensive 24 hour, 7 day range support, using U.S. Army doctrine to train U.S. Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force units in ground battlefield operations.
