(RTTNews) - At least four members of a family were killed when a remote-controlled bomb hidden in a water station exploded in the eastern Afghan province of Khost, said officials on Tuesday.
Afghan officials said the victims of Tuesday's bombing attack included two children. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the intended targets of the attack.
According to officials, the water station where the bomb exploded was built by the rural rehabilitation ministry to distribute water to local residents.
Currently, the Afghan security forces, along with a coalition of foreign troops under the command of NATO and the United States, are struggling to contain a revived Taliban insurgency in the war-torn country.
Presently, there are some 110,000 foreign troops from more than 42 countries in Afghanistan under the commands of the NATO and the United States fighting Taliban insurgents, with the US topping the list with about 62,000 soldiers.
