Rumors have been running rampant online that Muse is the next band to be confirmed to perform at next year's Glastonbury festival.

The band does not have any dates scheduled for June 25-27, when Glastonbury will take place, and bassist Chris Wolstenholme told NME.com that the band expects to play some festivals next year.

"I think we'll be busy all summer, it will be a combination of stadiums and some headline festival slots," he said. "It's good to vary it up a bit."

U2 are the only band officially confirmed to play the 40th anniversary of Glastonbury. David Bowie has denied reports that he is considering an offer to play the show.

Muse previously played the Glastonbury festival in 2004.
