Maxwell was one of the performers at the 2009 CNN Heroes Awards Show. The show was taped last weekend and aired on Thanksgiving.
Other performers included country artist Carrie Underwood and pop singer Leona Lewis.
The CNN Heroes Awards pay tribute to ten ordinary people who make extraordinary efforts to make a difference in the world. The top ten CNN Heroes were honored with a documentary tribute and were each introduced by a special celebrity presenter.
The CNN Heroes were chosen by a blue-ribbon panel from an initial pool of more than 9,000 viewer nominations. Each of the top-10 Heroes receives $25,000.
The celebrity presenters included Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Neil Patrick Harris, Pierce Brosnan, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes, Randy Jackson, Greg Kinnear, George Lopez and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The gala event was taped before an audience of 3,000 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.
