Consumer and commercial products maker Newell Rubbermaid Inc. (NWL) said Thursday Juan Figuereo is appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and would replace Patrick Robinson who is taking early retirement as announced earlier.

Figuereo, 54, most recently was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer or CFO of supplier of retailer-branded soft drinks Cott Corp. Inc., (COT). Prior to joining Cott Corp, Figuereo was Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions at Wal-Mart International.

Before joining Walmart, Figuereo was working at PepsiCo, where he had held various positions, including Vice President and Managing Director for Frito-Lay Dominican Republic and Vice President of Business Integration for Frito-Lay Europe in London.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based company on October 7 had announced the retirement plan of Patrick Robinson as Executive Vice President and CFO.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Ketchum, president and chief executive officer of Newell Rubbermaid said, "His strong track record as an agent of change accelerating complex businesses in Europe, Latin America and Asia makes him an ideal strategic partner in driving Newell Rubbermaid's global growth strategy."

"Newell Rubbermaid has a portfolio of iconic brands with huge potential for further geographic penetration and share gains," Figuereo said.

For the recent third quarter, the company had reported a decline in revenues from Latin America and Asia Pacific segments, both the segments contribute a smaller share of revenues to the total revenues of the company.

Commenting on Figuereo's performance at PepsiCo, Newell Rubbermaid noted that he led the largest business re-engineering project in PepsiCo Europe's history to integrate Frito-Lay's manufacturing and supply chain operations across the entire region. Newell Rubbermaid said that Figuereo also was a critical player in the financial and operational turnaround of Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Brazil, including restructuring the organization's manufacturing, sales and distribution networks.

At Wal-Mart, Figuereo helped the retailer enter five new countries in Central America and strengthen its position as a top retailer in Brazil, Newell Rubbermaid noted. Figuereo had helped Wal-Mart become the top foreign retailer in China, Newell Rubbermaid added.

NWL is currently trading at $14.96, down $0.01 or 0.06% on a volume of 0.60 million shares on the NYSE.
