Extending its previous session's downtrend, the New Zealand dollar edged down against its Australian counterpart before the Wall Street opens on Monday.

The kiwi slipped to a 4-day low of 1.2825 against the aussie around 8:40 am ET, down 0.7 percent from its Asian session's 5-day high of 1.2738.

The NZ dollar is presently worth 1.2818 against the Australian dollar and a move below the 1.286 support may pull the domestic unit down to its lowest level in nearly 7 months.
