Alicia Keys has given fans a holiday gift and leaked her entire new album, The Element of Freedom, through Facebook.
The album is officially slated for release on December 15, but Keys' label teamed up with social media firm Involver to offer a free stream and preorder to the singer's 1.3 million Facebook friends. The exclusive Facebook preview marks the first ever album release through the social networking giant.
"Alicia's incredible reach and passionate fan base inspired us to take an innovative approach and become the first music label to launch her album exclusively on the world's largest social media platform," said RCA Music Group's Executive VP Tom Corson.
He added, "After learning about Involver's powerful social media marketing capabilities and successes with brands such as US Weekly and Puma we knew we'd found the right partner to make this creative online launch a reality."
In other news, Keys helped Jay-Z celebrate his 40th birthday at an exclusive bash thrown by Beyoncé in the Dominican Republic. Hov and Keys reportedly offered up an impromptu performance of their hit collaboration, "Empire State of Mind," at the 1920s themed gala, which lasted until 5 AM.
