Reversing its early European session's uptrend, the Japanese yen lost ground against its Swiss and European counterparts in early New York trading on Monday.

The yen reached a 4-day low of 130.17 against the euro by 8:10 am ET, down 2.1 percent from Friday's 3-week high of 127.43. On the downside, the Japanese unit is likely to test support around the 131.0 level. The pair closed last week's deals at 129.65.

The yen also slipped to 87.16 against the Swiss franc by this time, just one pip away from its Asian session's 13-day low of 87.17. The next downside target for the domestic unit is seen around the 87.8 level. The franc-yen pair closed last week's deals at 86.76.
