Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, owned by a subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare Corp. (THC) has named Michael Cowling as chief executive officer and added that he will oversee all strategic and operational activities for the 199-bed hospital.
"Michael is an experienced healthcare executive with nearly 30 years of leadership at both the hospital and corporate levels," said Marsha Powers, senior vice president of operations for Tenet's Florida region.
Cowling most recently served as a division vice president with Health Management Associates, where he oversaw operations for two hospitals and spearheaded improvements in the hospitals' quality scores. He also served as CEO of Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Lancaster Regional Medical Center for Health Management Associates. Prior to that, Cowling served as Chicago market president for Vanguard Health Systems. He has held a number of other executive positions with investor-owned and nonprofit hospitals and hospital companies, the company said.
